Instructors

BRUCE QUACH

Bruce is a life long martial artist who found his way to the Jiu Jitsu mats in 2009. He has been with American Top Team since and he is the first Black belt awarded by Wilson Gouveia.

Bruce served this country as a United States Marine where he received extensive combat training and leadership skills that are directly applied on our mats.

Bruce is one of the lead instructors for our team. He works along side our other lead instructor to prepare our team’s curriculum. He is also very passionate and involved with helping fighters and competitor’s prepare for their fights. He dedicates time to our kids program and helps mentor our teens transitioning from our kids program to our adult program.

He proves his mantra “The more you sweat in peace the less you bleed in war”.

MONIQUE CHARLTON

Monique S. Charlton (Mo) has been a Black belt since July 2019. She has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with American Top Team since 2010 under the tutelage of Wilson Gouveia.

Monique is an accomplished competitor and coach. She has a passionate approach to coaching and preparing competitors for competition.

Monique also heads many Women’s self defense seminars and open mats at the academy to help show women that with Jiu Jitsu there is no reason to walk in fear.

When Wilson promoted Monique to Blue belt she looked him in the eye and told him she will be his first female Black belt. She proved herself right.

“I have been blessed with an opportunity to encourage women to join the fight! I strongly believe all women should learn Jiu Jitsu not only for self defense but to give them confidence with whatever they choose to do. This sport/art is one of the few martial arts where size does NOT play a huge factor in who will come out victorious”.
